Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely Easter break.

Here are the main events for Kakapo Team during the next 10 weeks:

Jets   

Players from the Jets basketball team are coming to teach us some skills, each

         Tuesday, for the first 5 weeks of term. Your child will need shorts and a t-shirt

         to wear for these sessions.

SchoolGen   Our first theme is to do with sustainable energy and the SchoolGen

                  solar panels on our school roof.

Book Weeks   Our annual school-wide Book Weeks are in weeks 6 & 7. This will include

                    Kakapo Team’s Lit Quiz, organised by Mrs McTaggart and the children

                   we send to the inter-school Lit Quiz in week 5.

Kia Kaha   In the last 3 weeks of term, the Police will help us teach their programme

                about bullying and keeping safe: “Kia Kaha”.

Red Cross  In week 6, each class will have a day learning first aid skills on a “People

                 Savers” course run by the Red Cross.

P.E.  Our P.E themes this term are orienteering and cross country running.

Maths   Our maths themes are multiplication and division, geometry and

           measurement.

Fund-raising for camp   Our Team camp is at El Rancho, Waikanae in week 1 of term

                                      4 [17-19 October]. We are holding 3 fund-raising events 

                                     this term; a car wash, pie selling and a subway lunch.

Reports/Parent interviews   Mid-year reports come home at the end of term, followed

                                           by parent/teacher conferences to discuss your child’s

                                          progress/next steps.
